Spring meadow-inspired tranquillity with a touch of wildness.
The creation and purchase of a painting of an over-the-bed deer in one of our largest rooms with direct access to a garden was influenced by a childhood memory of both the artist and the collector.
On a late winter, overcast, snow-melting muddy day in the mountains surrounding Castle Valley – thirty-two years ago – an antler-searching find on the wall was met with the unprofessional restoration result of an painting-laying accident: a deer antler (also found in the building), found some time ago, pierced the canvas during the installation. We leave the rest of the story to the imagination of the guests…
